Two wildfires are burning east of Osoyoos, the first at Haynes Creek on the northern flank of Anarchist Mountain, located about 4km north of the recently extinguished Regal Ridge wildfire and a second about 2km northeast of the Regal Ridge fire at 9 Mile Creek.

The Haynes Creek fire (estimated at 0.009 ha)  appeared on the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) dashboard at just after 1 p.m. today (July 16), and is currently classified as “Out of Control” with the suspected cause being lightning.

The 9 Mile Creek fire (estimated at 0.1 ha) was identified in a BCWS update at 2:41 p.m. and its cause has not yet been determined.
