Pamela Woolner of Thornbury, Ontario has been selected as the new Community Heritage Manager for the Oliver and District Heritage Society.

Her appointment was confirmed last week and she’ll be starting her new job March 10, according to society chair Sue Morhun.

“We’re really looking forward to having Pam with us. She has a wealth of experience and training in terms of museums, archives and is ideally positioned to build on the strong base our former manager Tracy Johnson began nearly two years ago with the help of collections manager Bryonie Mahé.”

Armed with Bachelor degrees in both the arts and education, Woolner has also earned credentials in community arts development, museum studies and cultural resource management over the course of a 10-year career.

For the past eight years she has managed an organization not dissimilar to the Oliver Heritage Society, one that takes a holistic approach to the preservation and presentation of the community’s historic assets.

“Pam brings a really strong and diverse set of skills to this job including programming,” said Morhun, noting Woolner is very creative.
