The Lake Osoyoos Sailing Club (LOSC) located at 8015 Spartan Drive has been granted a ten-year lease with an option to renew for an additional ten-year term at a rate of $1 per year, by Osoyoos Council. As part of the requirements the club must also obtain a $5 million insurance policy.
The LOSC has been at the same location since 1963 at which time they raised $13,000 to refurbish the historic railway building and move it to the current location.
The LOSC has hosted sailing regattas, offered sailing lessons, kayaking, canoeing, and is discussing with School District #53 to include sailing as part of the outdoor curriculum.
The Club House is unique and has been used by several organizations over the years. This includes the Osoyoos Rotary Club, the Dragonboat Club, and various senior organizations.
The LOSC takes pride in preserving the environment and only utilizes the wind, human power, and water for the activities they perform.
The LOSC is big on green initiatives and these activities help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by eliminating all traces of a carbon footprint.
