Provincial NDP Leader John Horgan will be stopping in Osoyoos Aug. 6 during a four-day tour of the Okanagan.
The opposition leader will be taking a tour of Moon Curser Vineyards in the morning as well as stopping by the Saturday morning Market on Main, said Brent Humphrey, Horgan’s director of communications.
Horgan said he’s certain that Horgan will be connecting with local residents on local issues, but those two events were the only ones he had details for when contacted Friday.
“I’m assuming he’s going to be talking with local parents,” Humphrey said, noting the recent high profile of the education issue in Osoyoos.
Brenda Dorosz, the parent who led the successful campaign to stop School District 53 from closing Osoyoos Secondary School, said she would be looking to Horgan to confirm that an NDP government would provide permanent funding for Osoyoos schools.
Horgan will be meeting with parents between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. at Troy’s Grill, she said.
Horgan will be starting in Kamloops and will also visit Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton during his tour, said Humphrey.
