Dear Editor:

Fantastic – Osoyoos Secondary School will remain open!

This has been a long, hard road to accomplish what many said was impossible. Mission accomplished! From Jan. 13 until June 30, this has been my fight for our community. The roller coaster ride for families and youth has finally stopped.

I would like to personally thank each and every person who spoke to me, called, emailed, researched, attended meetings, consultations, the protest rally, the pizza party for the kids, helped at the Cactus Jalopies Car Show and offered support in any way to myself and my team. There are far too many to name individually. Many of whom whose support never wavered for a second.

Words and actions can never express my thanks enough to my hometown of Osoyoos. The support across B.C. and across Canada is amazing. Our little community came together and fought for our youth and the entire country recognizes our collective efforts.

I want to thank all members of my committees, but there are two people who stood strong beside me through Save Our Schools, signed affidavits along side me, and helped to develop Osoyoos Independent School Society. These two people held me up and gave me the fight to continue.

Thank you immensely Chad Jensen and Kuldeep Rai. I will never forget your energy and support along every step of my mission.

Now we need to come together as a community, parents, youth, teachers, town council, and the school board to find and implement long-term solutions. We need an Education Committee dedicated to ensure true collaborative conversations take place.

Osoyoos kids matter!

Love you Rattlers and I am so very proud of each and every one of you!
