— Ambulance Service concerned about difficulty finding locations —

(OSOYOOS TIMES — September 20, 2006) —

In response to a concern from the B.C. Ambulance Service, Osoyoos has mounted a campaign in recent weeks to get all businesses on Main Street to clearly display their street address numbers.
Town Chief Administrative Officer Helen Koning says it's a matter of safety.
The Ambulance Service was called to an address on Main Street in which they spent 15 minutes to find the address because many of the businesses within a three-block stretch did not have numbers posted visibly, Koning says.
As a result of the concern, a few weeks ago the bylaw enforcement officer checked storefronts and since then has delivered letters to about 50 businesses that didn't have visible addresses. It urged the firms to display their civic numbers.
The letter explained the concerns of emergency responders … (and) served as a reminder.rnKoning says Town staff will be pleased to help any business operators unsure of their street number.
