Dallas Crawford has been selected as the Oliver Rotary Club’s Student of the Month for September.

Dallas is a current 10th grade student at the Southern Okanagan Secondary School (SOSS), and if you go there, it’s hard not to know her.

Dallas is loud, bright, funny, and full of life. She just finished her candidacy in the Oliver ambassador program along with 10 other candidates.

Dallas is a total weirdo, and proud of it! She loves to stand up for others and make sure all voices are heard. Dallas embraces all aspects of the arts, her favourites being theatre productions and visual arts.

This past July she received the ‘junior artist’ award. She also received the ‘junior service’ award. This award came from her passion to help others. She spends lots of her time volunteering, mostly with the OAP, but also with the SOSS art club, and occasionally on her own.

In early September she got to be the volunteer youth photographer for Osoyoos’ very own Pride Arts festival. This was not a random job she took on though, photography is her passion! She hopes to become a photographer one day, but is still exploring her specialty.

Not only joining her school’s art club, she’s been part of the Hornet Homies, the Dungeons and Dragons club, the yoga club, SAGA and the drag program run by SAGA, and is hopeful to start a few new clubs this year.

The Hornet Homies club really embraces what Dallas is all about, being welcoming, kind, and compassionate, while art, DnD, and yoga help her keep a clear and positive mindset. Dallas loves to talk with others and make new friends, and SOSS is all about that!
