Police apprehended a man who was accused of kicking two women multiple times and holding a knife to one of their throats.
It went down during the early hours of Wednesday morning. Police were called to a home on Highway 97 north of town after one of the victims reported the assault at 5:42 a.m.
The women had fled the residence but the man was still inside, the victim told the dispatcher.
Police arrived to the scene and saw the man inside, pacing back and forth with a knife. Officers called on Police Dog Services and set up a containment area.
Before any commotion could break out, the man exited the building and surrendered to police.
“This was a high risk and dynamic situation; these members did an excellent job of managing the scene and ensuring the safety of the public and themselves,” said Cpl. Christina Tarasoff with the Oliver RCMP.
They arrested Edward Dean Snaith.
He was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death, and breach of two Court orders – which were to not carry a weapon or consume alcohol. He’s staying in custody until his next court appearance on Jan. 2.
