A robbery suspect at the 7 Eleven store took off his scarf when asked to so that a video camera could record his face, leading to his arrest last week.

A 23-year-old Osoyoos man was arrested on Friday afternoon for a robbery that took place earlier that morning.

Osoyoos RCMP said the man was in police custody to appear in court this week.

Store employees called police at around 3:47 a.m. on Friday to report that a man had entered the store with his face hidden by a scarf and he demanded money.

The employees asked the man to remove his scarf, which he did.

The man then went behind the cash register area where he removed the money tray and left the store, fleeing south on foot with about $70 in stolen money.

A surveillance video of the robbery showed a male in his early 20s wearing a hat and a black jacket with a red “Lucky 13” devil logo on the back.

The man did not produce a weapon and did not use any physical force during the robbery, Osoyoos RCMP said in a news release.
