The BC Thanksgiving Food Drive is a province-wide initiative that is annually organized and “run” (literally) by local volunteers who travel our community on foot to distribute donation bags and pick up food donations.

You might not think a few cans and boxes of food collected on each street would add up to much, but last year our community’s generosity resulted in the Oliver BC Thanksgiving Food Drive collecting nearly 7,000 pounds of food.

Oliver residents’ generosity over the last six years in placing bags of food on their doorsteps has meant that our Oliver Food Bank has fed many people in need. We hope to continue to give assistance to our neighbours.

Every month, approximately 500 people use the Oliver Food Bank to feed themselves and their families.

A sincere thank you to all who have donated in the past and to our community partners for helping get your donations to the Oliver Food Bank.

Our community partners are the Oliver Food Bank, Kevin’s NoFrills, Casorso and Company Chartered Professional Accountants, Sunridge Landscapes, Oliver/Osoyoos Sikh Temple, Oliver Alliance Church Youth, The Best of India restaurant, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Oliver Dental Care.

Food drive volunteers will be delivering food donation bags the week of September 11 to many Oliver homes for the 7th Annual BC Thanksgiving Food Drive.

The donations in support of the Oliver Food Bank will be picked up on Saturday, Sept. 16.

Those who do not receive a bag can drop off non-perishable food donations at the Oliver Food Bank (6047 Station St.) between 10 am and 1 pm on collection day, September 16.
