A helpful citizen followed the 2011 GMC truck and driver as he observed the vehicle swerving on the roadway and then as the truck hit a pole at 7308 Main St.
The suspect truck fled the scene prior to the police arriving and another helpful citizen directed officers to the Falcon Motel parking lot. Police located the suspect vehicle and arrested the driver.
The driver, a 35-year-old man from Chilliwack, faces charges for failing to remain at the scene of an accident and impaired driving. His vehicle was impounded at the scene.
RCMP received a report about a 2010 Black Honda Street motorcycle that was stolen the evening of April 9 from the Fuji Court area of Osoyoos.
On April 8 at approximately 5:50 p.m., local RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver. Police were advised at around 5 a.m. on April 9 that an unknown male was found in a backyard of a residence on the 9700 block of 134 Ave.
The property owner challenged the man about why he was on his property and the man responded that he was lost. A few hours later the owner noticed his garage door open and he found his father’s 1994 red Dodge Dakota truck and many items, including B.C. license plates 159RDX and G03387, had been stolen.
Just before 6 a.m. on April 11, the Osoyoos Fire Department and RCMP responded to a break in and arson at Loco Charlie’s pub and restaurant on 9913 Main Street Osoyoos. Thieves broke into the restaurant and stole alcohol and food before setting a table on fire in the dining room area.
The Osoyoos Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the fire and a Police forensic specialist examined the scene. This arson is under investigation by the Osoyoos RCMP. After an ongoing investigations into multiple break and enters in the Osoyoos area, Osoyoos RCMP obtained an arrest warrant on April 11 for Scott Paquette, age 47, of no fixed address.
Evidence gathered using DNA analysis linked him to a break in of a fifth wheel trailer located on Lakeshore Drive that was reported in late January.
On April 13, the Osoyoos RCMP and South Okanagan Traffic Services located and arrested Paquette in Osoyoos. Paquette was held in custody and appeared in court the following day where he pled guilty and received a 90 day jail sentence.
