UPDATE TUES AUG. 23 – This fire is no longer active according to the BCWS Wildfire Dashboard. 

 

A new wildfire east of the ongoing Keremeos Creek wildfire is now underway as a result of lightning on Monday, August 22.

The fire, numbered K51806, is classified as ‘new’ and is burning around Kearns Creek near White Lake, according to the BC Wildfire Service’s Wildfire Dashboard.

The fire is currently estimated at 0.01 hectares and appears to be located within the White Lake Grasslands Protected Area.

No other information is currently available and Times Chronicle will update as the situation develops.
