Elder is the main person responsible

EditorrnAfter reading Jamie Elder's article regarding the grand opening of the skateboard park it occurred to me that I hadn't read much about the person who made it possible.
The person who motivated the kids to work hard for their park, who organized the clean up of the land, bottle drives, raffles, and supplied many of the prizes for those raffles.
The person who collected food for the food bank on many occasions and who is always willing to help the kids out.
This person is Jamie Elder himself.
We as parents are lucky to have someone like Jamie in our community. He is a successful young businessman who really cares about keeping kids off the streets. The kids look up to him and respect him. He has an incredible work ethic and gives back to the community.
By getting the kids involved with the building of their park he shows them that with hard work and dedication anything is possible.
So thank you Jamie, not only for your work on the park but more importantly for giving our kids a positive role model and something to aspire to.
Way to go!!

Dear Barry:rnOnce again, Ice Hockey Australia extends their appreciation to you and the Town of Osoyoos for your assistance and efforts in hosting our 2006 National Junior Team. Your assistance and Osoyoos hospitality has allowed Australia's and Osoyoos' young men to enjoy a cultural exchange through the game they all love “ hockey.
I am sure there will be some life-long friend-ships as a result.
Thank you once again for assistance.

rnEditor:rnThe members of the Osoyoos Skateboard Park Society and the skateboarding youth of Osoyoos would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters and wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
It has been a long and hard fought battle to get this park to its grand opening which happened on December 3. The opening was a huge success and was attended by several hundred youth and supporters in spite of the cold weather. It has required the dedication and committment of this community to see this vision become a reality and we were very pleased to see so many of our supporters brave the elements and come out to support the kids.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to and admiration for Jamie Elder and Jillian Buchanan who never let our dreams die. Without their unflagging optimism and countless hours of hard work this project would not have been completed. They have been fabulous supporters of the kids and have been exceptional role models for them. Jamie and Jill are committed commu-nity members and focus a great deal of their time and attention on the youth of this town. They are involved in many activities to benefit the kids, including the one to one reading program at Osoyoos Elementary and their ongoing drive to provide food to the local food bank. They campaign for the kids in many ways, only one of which is the skateboard park. We are very pleased to have been involved with them in this hugely successful community project. Jamie and Jill have made a difference to this community in ways that will be felt for years to come. They have shown the youth of this community that they have a voice and that if they persevere they will be heard. They have also shown them that hard work pays off and that dreams can come true!rnJamie and Jill, we couldn't have done it without you! Merry Christmas to you both!rnMerry Christmas Osoyoos, and thank you for your support!rnThe members of the Osoyoos Skateboard Park Societyrn
