Writer objects to encroachment

Editor:rnAfter attending the August 10 meeting of Osoyoos Now I went to Land and Water BC's website and filed a complaint against the Casa Del Lago application for the Crown Land to put up their marina. While on the LWBC's website I did a little exploring; lo and behold under pending applications I found Sole Vita's application listed under the name Stillwater Development was still under review.
This developer (Palcor) went ahead and put in their huge moorage docks that spoil the view from Cottonwood Park without the necessary approval. This is against the law and there are severe penalties for this type of action. Again I urge fellow citizens to write or email LWBC and object to this arrogant encroachment on public lakefront.

Editor:rnDoes anyone care what's happening in Osoyoos on vandalism? I was a victim of racial comments written in front of our doorway where Golden Chopsticks Restaurant is now located, in October 2003. An article was published by the Osoyoos Times on October 22, 2003. Now take a good look on the front of the flower box on the building, the large plated glass window, the cabaret sign on both sides, and the door on the next building. The door was painted in April 2005, as a promotion by the Desert Destination to beautify the downtown of Osoyoos. Is this the beginning of the Skid Road look? This is a tourist town. Do we want the visitors to read what's written on the sign? My husband and I are senior citizens. How do we climb up there to clean the sign?rnWe have lived in Osoyoos since 1963, we got robbed three times, vandalized countless times. I have reported all the incidents, but never a satisfying answer. How safe is it living in Osoyoos? Who is running the town? Are the taxpayers having to keep a 24 hours watch of one's property? By the way, the culprit did leave his initial behind.
