LIBERALS WRONG FOR TURFING CARDOSOrn
Editor:
I think the local Provincial Liberals have shot themselves in the foot.
They have treated Joe Cardoso and the democratic process shamelessly.
I was delighted to hear that Joe would be their candidate in the upcoming election.
At last, a politician I can trust! I thought.
I know Joe personally; as a real estate salesman 23 years ago, Joe helped my wife and I find our retirement home in Kilpoola.
Generally I am as leery of real estate salesmen as I am of politicians but I found Joe to be down-to-earth, straightforward and honest “ excellent qualities for Member of the Legislative Assembly.
I could hardly believe our good fortune when I heard he was running.
He was a candidate I could happily vote for.
If, as is claimed, he was denied the nomination because at some time in the past he had written that the premier should be fired, more power to him.
A politician who honestly speaks his mind!
A healthy party should welcome internal criticism.
A responsible party leader should not want to be surrounded only by yes men.
Now that Joe Cardoso, whom I know to be a man of integrity, has been so shamelessly dumped, I, for one, will not be voting for whatever ersatz candidate the Liberals put forward in this riding in May.

READER ASKS DRIVERS TO SECURE LOADS
Editor:
On Thursday, Feb. 26th at approximately 9:20 a.m. the highway from Osoyoos to Oliver was very treacherous due to the storm and I was on my way to Oliver.
A new blue ice auger came loose from a vehicle, first vehicle straddled it and I tried to avoid hitting it, however, due to road conditions was able to get the front end of my van around it but caught it with the rear driver's side wheel.
It slashed a huge gash in my tire and I was left sitting beside the road waiting for a tow truck, lost two hours of work time and also had to buy another tire.
To the young man in the older model GM pickup with the Ski-Doo on the back and an open tailgate who picked it up, you are very lucky that didn't cause a severe accident resulting in injury.
It was not secured nor was it when you came back for it and threw it in your truck.
Please remember that the next time you go ice fishing with your Ski-Doo, if it is sharp enough to cut through ice it definitely will cause a problem bouncing down the highway.
Not only that but you left me sitting there, freezing cold, alongside the road without a backward glance as you picked it up and flipped around in the road to go back to Oliver, shame on you!!
