ARTICLE ON MOUNTAIN FIRE DEPARTMENT IS INACCURATE

Re: Correction to article: Anarchist Mountain Fire Department needs more space, Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 by Chad Ingram
As President of the Anarchist Mountain Firefighters Society, I wish to point out a serious error in the reporting by Mr. Ingram.
While most of the article is well done, he seems to have missed the part about the establishment of the Society as a means of creating and developing both the fire department and its physical structures and equipment.
Perhaps this can be overlooked; however, his statement that So Simoes and department members Adrian Erickson, Butch Ferguson, Henry Woronko, Allan Elias and Don Scott co-signed for a loan from the Osoyoos Credit Union is very inaccurate.
Firstly, the directors of the society were the ones who co-signed for the loan, not department members, and while it is true Mr. Simoes and Mr. Erickson are members of the Society, the rest of those mentioned are not and did not have anything to do with the loan.
The other four directors who did co-sign wish to remain anonymous.
Secondly, those others mentioned above were indeed part of a large group of volunteers who helped in the erection of the fire hall.
However, there were many others who gave up weekend after weekend in this endeavour, volunteering time and equipment, and not all of them became members of the fire department.
This group of volunteers willingly gave their time in a truly community spirit for the good of all the residents and landowners of Anarchist Mountain.
To mention just a few, and in the inaccurate context, is unfortunate indeed.
I hope the above helps to set the record straight.
