When my son was four years old he developed an ear infection. After a lengthy examination this doctor comes to the conclusion that my son was allergic to dairy products. He gave a lengthy menu to follow.

Well, I’m just leaving the doctor’s office and I thought allergic to dairy product in one ear?  I want another specialist.

This doctor comes to the conclusion that my son was allergic to cigarette smoke; again, I said in one ear? I want another specialist.

I took him to a ear/nose and throat specialist in Regina. Finally I found a doctor that made one ounce of sense.

He explained to me when you are small, if your adenoids and your tonsils are enlarged, fluid builds up on the eardrum.

Well, we had this procedure done, adenoids and tonsils removed, and a tube to drain the fluid off the eardrum. It was a success.

I still wonder to this day if I would have taken my son to a fourth specialist would I have gotten a fourth option? No one knows your body more then you, but when you are little you are in care of the guardian, not the doctor.

Well, there is a sad part to this story. A little girl from Assiniboia, SK had the same procedure as my son. Her mother got her home and the incision started to bleed. This doctor suggested that she put ice packs on her throat. The following day the bleed continues, now it’s an emergency.

They were on their way to Regina because they were going it curarize the blood vessels. The mother told me the doctor had his finger down her throat. What happens when you put your finger down your throat? Gag, more pressure, more blood.

The little girl of four years old did not make it; she died in Moose Jaw.
