Boundary-Similkameen MLA Linda Larson was treated to a tour of the BC Tree Fruits packinghouse in Oliver on February 5 after meeting with members of the BC Fruit Growers’ Association.

Larson saw first-hand how apples are sorted and graded using state-of-the-art technology. The packinghouse has undergone some major upgrading over the past few years and now utilizes various robotics to sort and pack fruit.

The BCFGA is gearing up for its annual convention in Penticton on February 20-21. It plans to introduce a number of resolutions and discuss its new “industry strategy” with growers.
