Employees at Interior Savings in Osoyoos last year took a Thursday afternoon off to volunteer at the Osoyoos Food Bank. Every year for International National Credit Union Day, staff at all branches hold a Day of Difference where they volunteer for worthy projects in their communities. Interior Savings is looking for local organizations in need of volunteers for their “Day of Difference” on Oct. 19.

Interested organizations are asked to apply by Sept. 8 to indicate the nature of the project and how many volunteers are needed.

The event is being held on International Credit Union Day, and as in past years, employees will fan out across 14 communities from Osoyoos to Clearwater to assist organizations that are helping to build healthy and vibrant communities.

Interior Savings has branches in Osoyoos, Oliver and Okanagan Falls.

Last year, the Osoyoos team helped to sort and repackage bulk food items at the Osoyoos Food Bank.

The Oliver team put on garden gloves and helped Sunnybank Retirement Centre with winter yard clean-up.

In Okanagan Falls, Interior Savings employees worked in the gardens at Blasted Church.

“As a locally based co-operative, our success is tied to the success of communities,” said Kathy Conway, Interior Savings chief executive officer in a news release.

“Day of Difference is our way of saying thanks to the non-profits and volunteers who give their time and their hearts to help build brighter futures, right here at home,” she added.

Interested organizations should email [email protected] by Sept. 8 with details of the project and numbers of volunteers needed.

Interior Savings says it may not be able to accommodate all the requests, but organizations will be informed by Sept. 22.
