Oliver RCMP are urging motorists not to leave dogs in vehicles in this heat.

On Sunday afternoon police received a report of a dog that was left in a truck parked on Tucelnuit Dr. Police attended and found that the doors to the vehicle were unlocked and the windows were half-way down. But there was no water in the vehicle and the temperature was 43 degrees.

RCMP provided water to the dog, and with the assistance of a slice of cheese, the canine was corralled into the police car where it was brought to the detachment and was placed inside a cool area with more water.

Police contacted animal control and the dog was taken to the pound.

An officer made contact with the 30-year-old Edmonton owner who had been “frolicking in the lake.” He was directed to contact the SPCA and the dog pound.
