The holiday season in Oliver did not give the RCMP too many headaches, according to Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth.

He noted that members were not overly busy as they responded to 65 calls for service between Dec. 24 and Jan. 2. These calls included: seven false alarms, four incidents of mischief, five incidents of domestic assault, harassment/ threats, five cases of assault at Okanagan Correctional Centre, and one theft of bicycle.

Wrigglesworth said a truck that was on fire on McKinney Road on Dec. 26 was stolen from a parking lot.

He also reported a break-in at a fruit stand 11 kilometres north of Oliver where a large amount of honey was taken, valued at approximately $1,000.

The thieves took an empty cash register, too.

A break-in at Lordco at 2 a.m. on Jan. 2 did not result in any theft as the suspects were likely scared off by the audible alarm, Wrigglesworth said.
