Osoyoos is in the limelight with an appearance on the History Channel.
Season two of Shuswap-based reality TV show Rust Valley Restorers premiered on Nov. 21, featuring the Cactus Jalopies Car Show.
The premier episode includes a roughly seven-minute-long clip highlighting the Rust Brothers’ visit to the car show in June.
“It shows wicked aerial footage of all the cars on the beach, it shows the cars coming and going, it shows just beautiful views of Osoyoos,” car show organizer JF Launier said.
Launier’s Osoyoos shop JF Kustoms was featured in the show’s first season and will appear twice more on Dec. 5 and 19.

With over 700 vehicles and thousands of viewers, Launier was excited to show the event to a global audience.
“I made sure I invited them to come and enjoy our car show,” he said. “We always felt it was one of the best ones in the world.”
The History Channel will air re-runs of the show until the season ends in two months, and over the next year. In 2020 it’ll air on Netflix and available in 190 countries.
“It’s a big deal,” Launier said. “It’s a huge thing for our local representation in the world. I’ve always supported our little town wherever I go, and I’ve been about everywhere in the world doing it, and I just think it’s great to get our moment in the limelight.”
As for the Cactus Jalopies Car Show, it’s been cancelled until further notice. Organizers announced the decision in October, citing funding complications.
