The Hearts for Heroes event featuring the world-famous Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride this coming August is moving along smoothly, according to Osoyoos’ Tammy Herman, who is the lead organizer.
Herman thanked the community and volunteers, along with the Osoyoos Legion, for what she said was a successful community garage sale, which raised over $6,000 for the August event. She noted that none of the donations went to waste, as anything leftover was donated to a charitable thrift store in Penticton.
Next up for Herman and the Hearts for Heroes team is a large estate sale to be held this coming weekend. “Two local families are extremely generous. They’ve given us their entire estates, and we have no idea, and they don’t know, what’s all in them.”
She said the items are all professionally boxed up, “so we won’t know until we open them up what’s there,” she said, adding that there is an expectation of a lot of quality items, including dishes, silverware, antiques and collectibles. She also said there appears to be a lot of children’s games in very good condition.
Aside from the estate sale, Herman says volunteers are still needed for the actual event day, with about 25 currently signed up and 75 more needed. Anyone interested can go to heartsforheroes.ca , email to [email protected] or call 250-495-5769.
Herman also updated that the musical act for the end of day concert has changed and will be the Rolling Stones tribute band, Lipz.
The estate sale will take place at Osoyoos’ Sunbowl Arena on Saturday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, June 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
