Dear Editor:

This letter is written so we can express our opinion about the recent closure of Haynes Point Provincial Park.

We agree with Osoyoos resident Dan Burton about the unfair closure of Haynes Point Provincial Park.

What gives the Osoyoos Indian Band and the B.C. Ministry of Environment the right to close the park indefinitely?

I’m sure that the archeologists could fence off the areas of interest to do their dig, without closing the park to the public.

Do they plan to dig up the whole park?

The park belongs to the people of B.C., not the Osoyoos Indian Band or Parks BC and is a economic ben, efit to the town of Osoyoos.  We would suggest that anyone that walks along the causeway continue to be allowed to do so.

Ministry of Environment and the Osoyoos Indian Band should stop this unreasonable  closure of Haynes Point immediately.  We will not support the Osoyoos Indian Band businesses until the park is open again for all to enjoy.
