We would like to remind everyone that the office at the Osoyoos Times will be closed on Monday, Aug. 4 as staff will be enjoying the Civic Holiday long weekend.

Because of the holiday weekend, the display advertising deadline for the August 6 edition of our newspaper will be this Friday at noon.

The deadline for classified advertising for our next issue will remain Tuesday at 2 p.m.

With so many people travelling about on highways and roads across British Columbia, we urge everyone to use caution, drive carefully and safely and be patient.

With many of those same people heading out swimming, boating or pursuing other activities on Osoyoos Lake and other lakes and rivers in the South Okanagan and across the province, we again urge them to use caution, not take risks, wear a lifejacket or personal floatation device and be careful.

With the Environment Canada forecast calling for nothing but extremely warm temperatures and sunshine over the next seven days, it should be a wonderful long weekend to remember.

We hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend.
