Dear Editor:

There was a great show on CBC’s Fifth Estate Friday night.

It was titled “Silence of the Labs” It dealt with the almost total dismantling of environmental research by the Stephen Harper government here in Canada

It showed research projects shut down and the scientists being bullied because their work contradicted the agenda of the Harper government.

To me this is outrageous and borders on criminal but you see, people elected them to a majority government, giving them the power to do this.

I’m just so let down by this Canadian dictatorship that maybe it’s time to take action.

Canada’s scientists are on the front lines of worldwide environmental and climate research.

Many countries depend on Canada for there expertise on climate change and how to protect there oceans, lakes and rivers.

Now they’re just shaking their heads and wondering what is our government doing. Even though we’re talking about the country I love, I believe there should be sanctions brought agaisnt Canada until they restore this vital scientific research.
