The annual Half Corked Marathon will look a little different this year, as Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country moves the event online.

The new look will feature a multi-destination roadshow, online wine experiences and a virtual run over the course of six weeks. Called a “multi-faceted, mixed reality wine festival,” the event will take place between August 23 and September 8.

“Our small team has worked exceptionally hard to innovate during this challenging time and bring all the elements of our well-loved event directly to our participants,” said executive director of Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country, Jennifer Busmann.

“Our pandemic-proof format will ensure the well-being of both our participants and winery teams, while delivering thoughtful, educational and engaging content to help share the story of our incredible region.”

This year’s festival will include a roadshow hosted by communities across B.C. and Alberta, where attendees can participate in wine tastings, food pairings and contests for prizes. All locations of the roadshow will follow local health and safety regulations.

The festival will also host the marathon virtually, with participants receiving a virtual race route that will take runners through the vines and along the river. This route will be delivered through footage and can be enjoyed at any time by participants.

The well known costume and comedy skit contest will run on a photo or video entry system and is open until August 14.
