The Osoyoos Festival Society has launched its GoFundMe fundraising appeal with a goal of raising $10,000 for the annual Canada Day/Cherry Fiesta fireworks display.

“We need your help to make this summer’s Osoyoos Fireworks on July 1 a fun and festive event for everyone,” states the fundraiser launched by Ken Baker Festival Society President. “Let’s light the night up high as those fireworks shoot across the sky!”

For many years the Osoyoos Festival Society, through its festivals and events, has been contributing to the economic and social well-being of our community, Baker said, adding that last year, for the first time, the Canada Day Fireworks were incorporated into their lineup of events.

“But those fireworks don’t come cheap! We are now reaching out to you – our friends, neighbours and community – for your support. Now is your moment to help us keep the sparkle alive, spread joy and celebrate our beautiful country, Canada!”

Baker also notes that donations not only support the Osoyoos Festival’s fireworks and the enjoyment of the finale of the annual July 1 celebration but also have a significant impact on the business community including hotels, restaurants, wineries, retailers and small businesses which all benefit from the thousands of out-of-town visitors.
