Following closures over the weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at South Okanagan General Hospital (SOGH), Interior Health has announced that the emergency department will be closed on Monday, August 19 from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday, August 20 due to what the health authority says is “limited physician availability”.
Patients are advised to access care at Penticton Regional Hospital during this time. All other inpatient services will continue as normal at South Okanagan General Hospital (SOGH).
People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care (i.e., chest pains, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding) should always call 911 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility.
