Police are investigating a fatal collision that closed Highway 3 east of Keremeos for several hours on Wednesday that saw four deaths.
On July 10 at 11:30 a.m., Keremeos RCMP and BC Highway Patrol along with partnering first responders, received reports of a serious collision on Highway 3 near Becks Road in Keremeos, involving two cars and a tractor trailer.
According to a statement from the RCMP four adults of an extended family, all in the same vehicle, were found deceased on scene. The occupants of the other vehicles were uninjured.
“This is a terrible tragedy. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen RCMP spokesperson Sgt Jason Bayda said.
“Our thoughts are also with the first responders and members of the public impacted by this incident.”
Bayda added that during this time of year, there is typically a significant increase of traffic incidents on BC’s roadways. Police are reminding everyone to slow down and remain alert to your surroundings. A total of 18 people in BC have died in seven separate road accidents in the last week alone.
