-Nomination period ends Oct. 10-

As of Oct. 6, only one person had filed nomination papers at Osoyoos Town Hall to indicate a desire to run for the position of mayor while three people had filed papers to run for council positions.
So far, Manuel Gosselin will be seeking election as mayorrnAlthough they had not filed nomination papers by press time, Coun. Stu Wells and Anarchist Mountain resident Eike Scheffler have publicly declared their intention to run for the mayor's seat.
Chris Boehm, Sy Murseli and Coun. Ted Cronmiller had filed papers to be nominated as candidates for Osoyoos's four council positions.
Cronmiller has served one term as councillor and he said he would use the wisdom he gained in the last three years to do even better work for the community.
I think I can be a more effective councillor in the second term, using what I've learned in the first term, he said.
Claude Moreira, who was acclaimed in the 2005 election, is the only person to file nomination papers for the position of water councillor.
The nomination period ends Oct. 10 and Osoyoos residents go to the polls on Nov. 15.
