The First Friday Art Walk in downtown Osoyoos returns this coming Friday, February 6 from 4-7 p.m. with events at The Osoyoos Art Gallery, Osoyoos Museum, Wayside Select Books and Art, C21 Pop-Up Art Gallery and the Okanagan Art Gallery.

And this time around the Walk is welcoming its newest partner, Backroads Brewing, which will be featuring both art and music. David Barber is the musical featured artist performing from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Art Gallery Osoyoos has unveiled its latest show “Away We Go” featuring Cawston based artist Rachael Gurevitch, opening Wednesday, Feb. 4.

Born in Cochise Country, Arizona and raised in the Similkameen Valley, Gurevitch also spent part of her time growing up in Montreal where she learned about art from her grandmother, a prominent oil painter.

A self-taught artist, Gurevitch has developed a distinctive, original and recognizable style which she describes as, “organic, inspired by personal exploration of ritual, symbolism, nature, the elements, entities and self reflection.” In short, she paints how she sees the world and feels things deeply.

As a multi-talented artist, her artistic leanings have always included theatre, poetry, music and community organization, she says. Music is for her sorrow, and painting is for her joy, she relates.
