With Halloween three days away, the Osoyoos Fire Department is reminding residents that fireworks are not permitted anywhere within the Town of Osoyoos.
The department responded to a residence where fireworks were being set off on Sunday evening, fire chief Dave McMahon said.
The town’s Good Neighbour Bylaw disallows any fireworks, firecrackers or other explosives from being set off within town limits, unless as part of an organized fireworks display.
Along with sparking fires, the explosives can also cause injuries, McMahon said.
“The Osoyoos Fire Department is wishing everyone a happy, safe, fun Halloween but is reminding everyone there are no fireworks in the town.”
