A new fire truck meant for the Town of Osoyoos was involved in a fatal collision on Hwy. 3 west of Princeton on Dec. 12.
Police said a truck crossed the centre line of the Hope-Princeton Highway near Sunday Summit and crashed into the fire truck, which was being delivered to the Osoyoos Volunteer Fire Department from Abbotsford.
The driver of the smaller truck, a 57-year-old Denman Island man was killed in the collision.
Police said that while the investigation is still ongoing, it doesn't appear the driver of the fire truck was at fault.
According to the Penticton Western News, the driver of the fire truck was not injured and both vehicles were seized for police inspection.
The vehicles appeared to have been in proper working order prior to the crash, police said.
Police could not say how much damage was done to the Osoyoos-bound fire truck, which is valued at $200,000.
Neither department Chief Rick Jones nor Mayor Stu Wells were available for comment by press time on Dec. 29.
