Only weeks after opening, a new restaurant in Osoyoos was gutted by an early morning fire last Thursday.
Crews from the Osoyoos Fire Department were dispatched to the new C’est Bon Bistro in the early morning hours. The restaurant is located in the Cottonwood Plaza at 6511 Main Street in Osoyoos.
The new restaurant, which opened to customers during the second week in May, replaced the former Ella’s Greek Restaurant, which had operated in Osoyoos for several years.
Fire crews were dispatched just before 5 a.m. and it took about an hour to bring the fire under control.
Fire Chief Rick Jones and several volunteer members were still on the scene around 9 a.m.
No cause of the fire has been revealed, but foul play is not expected as the fire is believed to have started in the kitchen area of the restaurant.
The owner of the restaurant, according to several sources, was from Quebec and had moved to Osoyoos recently to open the eatery.
