A licence plate was basically all that was left after a car fire on Road 7 just after midnight on Friday.

Oliver Fire Department spokesman Rob Graham said the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when members arrived. Nobody was around the vehicle at the time, he pointed out.

“We managed to save the licence plate,” Graham said, noting the Oliver RCMP would likely be trying to locate the owner.

Graham said it was not determined how or why the fire started. The vehicle was found in the middle of the road not far from Highway 97.

Police could not be reached for comment by press time.
