Dear Editor:

On November 29th a fire destroyed our home.  We want to thank all of our friends and neighbours who were there and continue to be there to offer their love and support.  It has meant so much to us.

We would like to thank the Osoyoos volunteer fire department for all their hard work that night and enduring the cold temperatures and wind to try and save what they could.  These volunteer heroes really give to our community and we certainly have greater appreciation for all that they do for everyone in the Osoyoos area.

Similarly we want to thank the ambulance staff that kept us warm and ensured that our health was protected.  We also would like to thank our local RCMP and Tina Wallner with Victim Services, who brought us emergency supplies once we were settled.

A special thank-you to the Osoyoos  quilters guild for their thoughtfulness and the beautiful quilt given to our family, and an anonymous young boy from Vernon who used his own gift card to buy our son a present.

We are so fortunate to live in a small community where everybody is so kind and supportive.

Thanks once again.

Paul, Adrienne and Kaleb Mailey
