Throughout the year, many local charities and community groups seek donations and support for various fundraisers.
There’s always a need for cash, prizes or sponsorships for charity sports tournaments or community events focused on worthy causes.
Many people may not realize that most businesses in the Osoyoos area are constantly being asked to contribute to such events and causes and, even in tough times, always come through by donating money and merchandize or supporting local efforts in one way or another.
Without the business community’s help, most of the fundraising and community-focused efforts here would never get off the ground.
We should all keep in mind how generous the majority of our local businesses are in the face of increasing demands for assistance when it comes to fundraising efforts and do our part to support the stores, restaurants, banks and other merchants here in town that do so much to make a difference.
While such businesses might get recognized with their logo on a poster or T-shirt at any particular event or fundraiser, the best way for the community to show its gratitude is to make an extra effort to shop locally.
Or, go one step further and let our businesses that support such endeavours know how much you appreciate their generosity every time you step through their doors.
