BOBBY HULL WILL BE HERE TO GIVE THE SPURS A GOOD LAUNCH]

We just got a last-minute phone call from Ken Southwick, the Head Coach and General Manager of the Osoyoos Spurs team in the World Hockey Association's new Junior West Hockey League.
Ken passes along the hot news that Bobby Hull, the commissioner of the revived WHA, will be in town Friday, September 22nd to help launch the Spurs home-ice season opening game that evening.
That's exciting “ maybe moreso for the aging hockey fans who remember when the Golden Jet used to fly down the left wing for the Chicago Black Hawks, than for today's young potential Osoyoos Spurs fans.
But, judging by the way Bobby graciously worked the crowd during his first visit to town on July 1st, signing countless autographs and chatting amiably with everyone who wanted to talk to him, his presence for the Spurs first game will give a welcome boost to the team.
It's a boost that may well be needed. Things appear to be coming together a bit slowly for the team, and likely for the other WHA squads. We urge local fans to give the team a chance to get its skates under it “ but the fans will no doubt drift away if the Spurs and the WHA don't look fairly good fairly quickly.
We hope things come together very well, and we welcome Bobby Hull to inaugurate the Spurs' season.

We encourage everyone interested to go out to the public consultation on the proposed new Osoyoos seniors facility. The input session for Council “ at the Sonora Centre from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 14th “ could prove to be critical for this major new facility.
