OSOYOOS TIMES-February 25, 2009

It's hard to think about June right now as February's cold bleakness lingers on and on and on.

But it is only a little more than four months away and although there's still snow on the ground the Osoyoos Times is asking the community to turn its thoughts to the Canadian Cancer Society's 2009 Relay for Life.

In anticipation of the event, which will be held at Desert Park on June 20, the Times is putting out a request for stories or thoughts about why you'll be participating in this year's relay or why you've taken part in the past.

We feel that the best way to show what the relay is all about to those who maybe don't know all that much about the event is by letting the people who participate explain their reasons in their own words.

The stories we receive will appear in the newspaper in the weeks leading up to the event along with updated information about the relay.

The Times asks that submissions be roughly 300 words and they can be sent by email to [email protected] or feel free to drop them off at our office on Main Street.

Some might argue that there are really no words to describe what it's like to come together with hundreds of people in the warm summer air in a shared effort to beat cancer, but we're hoping you'll do your best.
