CONSIDERING THE VALUE OF VOLUNTEERING IN OSOYOOSrn

OSOYOOS TIMES-March 18, 2009

What would Osoyoos look like without its volunteers and volunteer organizations?

The Osoyoos Times and the South Okanagan Volunteer Centre will try to answer this question in the next four weeks leading up to National Volunteer Week, which runs from April 19 to 25, and the Osoyoos Volunteer Fair on April 19 at the Sonora Community Centre.

Each issue of the Times leading up to April 19 will have a story about some of the volunteer organizations and not-for-profit groups that help give this town its character and contribute to the community.

Four categories of volunteer involvement will be considered including Community/ Culture, Environment/ Health, Service and Sports/Leisure.

While we'll be talking to volunteering organizations about how they see their roles in the community, we'd like to hear from you about how a volunteer group has helped you or improved your quality of life in this town.

Please get in touch with us through email at [email protected] or call the editor at 250-495-7225 if you have any thoughts to share or if you'd like to be interviewed for one of the four stories.
