LACK OF CONSISTENCY AT RDOS IS BAFFLING
OSOYOOS TIMES-September 24, 2008
So let's see if we have this straight.
Eike Scheffler applies earlier this year to subdivide his Anarchist Mountain property.
The Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) board of directors and RDOS staff have some problems with the application” size and environmental issues being among the concerns” and Scheffler's proposal is eventually shot down.
He has to alter his application, pay another $1,000 fee to the RDOS and start the approval process from scratch.
Last month, the RDOS board votes down another development application, not once but twice” this one for a resort at the head of Osoyoos Lake” that had also raised size and environmental concerns.
In what appears to be defiance of provincial law, however, that application was quickly brought back before the board, without changes or without the applicants having to pay the $1000 application fee, and was approved.
The Osoyoos Times will let its readers make up their own minds as to whether this seems unfair or not.
