OSOYOOS PEOPLE AND MERCHANTS JUST KEEP ON GIVING . . .
(OSOYOOS TIMES — Oct. 18, 2006) —
Not a week goes by that Osoyoos people don't show their generosity of spirit.
Again this past week we have seen many examples of this.
One of the biggest was the wildly successful bowling benefit evening held last Saturday at Kobau Lanes for the family of little Autumn Rehbein, to help them as she battles lukemia in the B.C. Children's Hospital in the Lower Mainland.
No sooner did retired school principal “ and league bowler “ Lee Chic start the ball rolling two weeks ago on her idea for a benefit, than merchants and individuals jumped on the bandwagon, offering money, silent-auction prizes, and whatever else was needed to make the event a success.
More than 40 merchants from Osoyoos and Oliver contributed, and 48 bowlers took part in the activity.
Everyone had a lot of fun, and they all kept their focus on why they were there “ to help the family and four-year-old Autumn as they work through this very trying time.
The event raised more than $4,200. Hats off to everyone involved!

People in Osoyoos, Keremeos and Oliver got together last week to gather in about 200 warm winter coats and some boots to distribute to kids and adults in the area who need the clothing as the cold weather approaches. Organizer Shirley Roberts, along with local Kiwanis members, Sears, SuperValu, Buy-Low and all those involved are to be commended for this great helping hand to those in our community.

Home Hardware contributed $500 from its summer street dances to the Osoyoos Fire Department this past week for new 'jaws of life' equipment. Frances Sologuk and her gang at Home Hardware work hard, with some donations from other businesses, to make the street dances a spirited success. They add to the town's quality of life, and now help our Fire Department. Well done, everyone!
