David Emersen should resign and face a bye-election

David Emersen and new Prime Minister Stephen Harper have totally miscalculated the fallout from Emersen's defection from the Liberal Party.
After winning a seat in Vancouver under the Liberal Party banner, Emersen took very little time defecting to the ruling Conservatives and into a seat at the cabinet table.
The negative reaction to this move has been far beyond what anyone would have expected.
But it shouldn't be. People are tired of the selfish political agendas of those tyring to run our country.
Emersen says made the move because in power (and cabinet) he would be able to better serve the country and his constituency.
We say hogwash. We think this decision is more about his ego than about serving the needs of his constituency.
Further, to make an assumption like that is simply arrogant beyond belief. The majority of people in that riding voted for a Liberal candidate, knowing full well the trouble the party was in. Is Emersen saying voters in his riding are too simple to understand how the Canadian political system works?
Emersen should resign and face a by-election and legislation should be written to stop this from happening again.
