Yesterday’s car crash into a home on Meadows Drive in Oliver resulted in the motorist receiving a violation ticket for driving without consideration.
Oliver RCMP Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth said police responded to a single vehicle incident in which a 2005 Nissan Altima struck a fence and a pole that supported part of the house. According to the report, the vehicle was travelling northbound when it came to a stop on the opposite side of the street, proceeded over a sidewalk and into the backyard of the home in the 6,600 block of Meadows Drive.
“The ‘N’ driver alleges he was driving approximately 60 km/hr (in a 50 km/hr zone) when a deer jumped out in front of him. He stopped, then sped up to drive around the deer and lost control,” Wrigglesworth said.
The commander noted it was a clear, dry afternoon with no snow or ice on the road. Alcohol was not considered a factor, and no injuries were suffered. He said there was property damage to two residential yards, plus a fence and support pole.
Wrigglesworth said the driver was wearing a seatbelt but was issued a ticket for driving without consideration.
