School district officials had to scramble Wednesday to come up with some buses to take students home after someone stole the keys to all of the buses in Keremeos.
Superintendent of Schools Bev Young reported there was a break-in at the bus garage. All of the bus keys were taken, along with a vehicle and most of the tools.
“We had to scramble for buses,” Young said, noting that Director of Facilities Mitch Van Aller managed to acquire some spare buses from Oliver, Okanagan Falls, and Penticton.
Young said the stolen vehicle was found, but not the bus keys. She pointed out that if the keys are not recovered, they will have to change the ignition systems in all of the buses.
As of Thursday, there was no police report on the break-in.
