The Westmana Development Corporation said in a May 5 press release that it will be going back to the drawing board with its proposed development for the former water slide property at 5003 Lakeshore Dr.
The proposed development, which features two four-storey buildings housing a total of 95 condominium units, drew criticism from a number of Osoyoos residents at an April 21 public hearing. Residents said the buildings, particularly a structure planned for a hilltop at the back of the property, would obstruct their lake views and diminish the value of their homes.
The developer now says he will be decreasing the height of both buildings by one and half metres.
We have listened to concerns of property owners to the rear of our proposed development and have taken steps to help mitigate view impacts that diminish the value of their homes, said Westmana co-founder Willie Kwun in the release.
Kwun said area homeowners would actually look over the two buildings, maintaining their views of the lake.
Westmana will be hosting an open house detailing the project at the Sonora Centre from 3 to 7:30 p.m. on May 15. View analysis illustrations of the proposed development will be on display, Kwun said.
The proposed development will then proceed to a second public hearing in Osoyoos council chambers on May 20.
