A cyclist who was airlifted to Kelowna hospital after colliding with a pickup truck north of Oliver yesterday is reportedly “doing well.”

Police, ambulance and firefighters were called to a collision on Tuesday afternoon on Highway 97 at Enterprise Way.

According to witnesses and the pickup truck driver, the cyclist cut across lanes heading southbound and entered the path of the driver who could not avoid the collision.

The cyclist suffered a head injury and was flown by helicopter to Kelowna General Hospital.

Oliver RCMP Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth spoke to the wife of the injured cyclist on Wednesday morning and she advised that he is doing well with no broken bones, but he did require surgery.

“She was very thankful that he was wearing a helmet,” Wrigglesworth said. “She also mentioned how amazingly positive the staff at KGH were considering how overwhelmed they have been of late.”
