There are five new COVID-19 cases in Interior Health (IH) region and 18 active cases on isolation according to the latest numbers from the health authority on Sept. 2.

There are a total of 1,127 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, 2,786 people who are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases, and 4,605 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are no COVID-19 cases in hospital in the IH region as of Wednesday.

The outbreak at Okanagan Correctional Centre remains at seven cases (all staff). One case is currently active, according to the Sept. 2 update from IH. The health authority also said there are no IH resident cases are currently associated with the water treatment facility project outbreak in the Elk Valley (declared Aug, 27.)

Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, and Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer, announced 104 new cases in B.C. Wednesday in a written statement.

A total of 33 individuals are hospitalized with COVID-19 in B.C., 14 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 1,974 cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 3,112 in the Fraser Health region, 178 in the Island Health region, 445 in the Interior Health region, 164 in the Northern Health region and 79 cases of people who reside outside of Canada.

There were no new COVID-19 related deaths reported Wednesday, for a total of 209 deaths in British Columbia.

The province announced  new health-care facility outbreak at Surrey Memorial Hospital and declared an end to the outbreak at Langley Memorial Hospital. In total, eight long-term care or assisted-living facilities and two acute-care facilities have active outbreaks.
