If all goes according to plan, a residential housing development will be coming to Oliver on the old Forbes property on Co-op Avenue.
On Monday Canadian Wetlands hosted an open house in the legion hall to get people’s feedback on the type of housing they want to see on the property.
There is currently an offer to purchase the 7.24-acre land, which Canadian Wetlands and Prestigious Properties want to develop.
Senior project manager David Perehudoff said they are planning to build 100-plus units on the site, which is currently zoned agriculture (but it’s not in the Agricultural Land Reserve). The zoning would need to be changed to reflect high density housing, such as row houses or townhomes.
Perehudoff said they want to keep the units affordable for families, single parents and others.
At the open house, a few people supported the concept. Municipal Councillor Larry Schwartzenberger said he is interested in seeing what the developers present to the Town.
